Vismaya Water Theme Park, spread across an area of 30 acres near Taliparamba in Kannur, is the only amusement park established and maintained by a cooperative society. This theme park was inaugurated in 2008 by the Malabar Tourism Development Co-operative Limited (MTDC). The co-operative society established in 2000, has many plans for promoting business in relation to Malabar tourism. Vismaya amusement park was the first of its projects including resorts, hotels, tour operations, water sports, river cruises etc. that are under progress.
Vismaya Theme park is an amazing infotainment centre with many astonishing rides for kids and adults alike. Aqua Trail, Electric Swing, Giant Wheel, Jumping Frog, Tornados, Twisters etc are some of the major attractions in the park. The most peculiar fact about the theme park is that it is completely operated by rainwater. The rainwater harvesting is part of the vismaya plan, which spread across 2 acres of reservoir collecting monsoon falls and other natural springs for satisfying all the water needs in the park. The plan makes it one of the best eco-friendly water theme parks in the world.
Virtual waterfall and laser show are the crowd pullers of this amusement park. Virtual waterfalls is an hour of water fun starting at 2 pm and go on till 3 pm, during which visitors dance under the sprinkling waters to the background rhythms.
