Veeranpuzha Lake

Veeranpuzha lake is actually the northern extension of the Vembanad Lake surrounding the Ernakulam district. Vembanad Kayal from Kochi azhi to Munambam azhi is known by the name Veeranpuzha, which had regular ferry services in the 1980s. The water of Veeranpuzha is a bit saline making the banks of the river uninhibited by the human population. Yet saline tolerant cultivations are happening here year long.

There are times when the salinity level of the water is low and high when it’s low the

Pokkali rice is being cultivated in the lands, whereas when the salinity is high, cultivation shifts to prawn farming in the fields. Veeranpuzha is one of the most attractive backwaters with brackish lagoons and lakes parallel to the Malabar coast. A peaceful boat ride through the pristine waters will be good for a perfect relaxation of mind and soul.
