Valiyaparamba Backwaters

Valiyaparamba backwaters are the largest backwaters in North Kerala and the third largest in all of Kerala. Located around 30 km away from Bekkal, Valiyaparamba backwaters is a pristine scenery with a soothing effect. One can see many islands in Valiyaparamba backwaters with human population, tall trees, etc. Agriculture and fishing is the main occupations of these people. Valiyaparamba backwaters are prosperously fed by four major rivers. 

These backwaters are not yet commercialized as Alappuzha backwaters, it is quiet and unexplored. One can get rides in traditional boats and houseboats to enjoy the glorious scenery along the banks of the backwaters. Crab catching is yet another fun activity that tourists often indulge in along with fishing. A large variety of migratory birds are seen around the region, flying up to the tiny islands and back to the mainland, to and fro.
