Trikannad Temple and Pandiyan Kallu are sorts of twin tourist centres in Kasargod district as both share a very captivating and intriguing legend. Situated at a distance of 3 km from Bekal in Kasargod, Pandiyan Kallu or Pandiyan Rock is a huge rock ascending from the midst of the Arabian Sea. This rock is about 2 km away from the Trikannad temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
A legend connecting both these places says that Pandiyan kallu was not always a rock as it is today. It was a warship that belonged to one of the Pandya Kings. This ship came to destroy the Trikannad temple but was transformed into a huge rock by Lord Shiva himself, the presiding deity of the temple. Since then, Pandiyan kallu has become a famous tourist attraction along with the temple.
It is indeed a heavenly destination for the great swimmers, who like to swim their way through the water waves and reach the Pandiyan Kallu rather than enjoying its sight from a distant shore. Visit these twin tourist attractions with an astonishing background myth that people love to ponder upon.
