Thiruvampady Sree Krishna Temple

Centuries-old Thiruvambady temple is located in Patturaikkal, Thrissur district. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna and resides in close association with the Vadakkumnathan Temple. During the Thrissur Pooram festival, Thiruvambady Temple is one among the two rival temples that represent a section of the nearby region. The main deity, Lord Krishna is taken to Vadakkumnathan Temple along with a long procession, decorated elephants, chenda melams etc. 

With its close proximity and relation to the Lord Ayyappa temple in Thrissur, it is often visited by the ardent devotees along with their journey to Vadakkumnathan temple. The temple authorities and believers are super excited during the Pooram ceremony upon fulfilling the traditional and ancient rituals initiated by their forefathers about 200 years ago. Pooram usually takes place in April or May, if you want to experience the celebrations and fireworks in a festive mood, pay a visit to Thrissur at this time of the year.
