Thikkoti Lighthouse

Thikkoti lighthouse built in 1847 is one of the most visited heritage monuments in Kozhikode district situated in a village called Thikkoti, 30 km away from Kozhikode city. It is believed that a shipwreck that happened on the rocky shores of the beach was the reason behind the construction of this ancient lighthouse that guides the ships to date. This 33.5 m high lighthouse can be visited by the tourists, yet for using the spiral winding stairs you may have to get prior permission.

The area surrounding the lighthouse is so mesmerizing with lush green coconut palms, rocky terrain and clear blue sea stretching out the horizon. The lighthouse gives an excellent view of the Velliyamkallu, the colossal rock formation of the Arabian Sea. The water waves splashing over the rocks is a spectacular vision to be enjoyed on this beach shore. Apart from the scenic views, the rocky shores are also peculiar for the flocks of migratory birds that sit on the rocks and fly away when waves come thrusting up the rocks. It is so an amazing vision that is definite to lift your mood and spirits high above the sky.
