Siruvani Reservoir built across Siruvani River is situated 46 km away from Palakkad town. The dam is surrounded by dense forests and Kalladikode hilly ranges. On the eastern side of the dam, one can spot Muthikulam hills. The reservoir was constructed by the Kerala State Government to facilitate drinking water supplies to the town of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. There are two gateways for the dam built as a blend of Kerala and Tamil Nadu architecture.
Favourable climatic conditions, surrounding greenery and astounding views make Siruvani Reservoir a favourite picnic spot for local, national and international tourists. There is a magnificent waterfall in the hilly ranges that offers a great sight from the dam side view. The neighbouring forests are also perfect for adventure seekers as they offer many exciting trekking trails. A 150-year-old ancient Pattiyar Bungalow, one of the beautiful inspection houses of the Kerala Forest Department is situated on the banks of the reservoir. If you are all set to have a day out in the sun among natural wonders and species, Siruvani Reservoir would be an ideal choice with its refreshing waters and picturesque setting.
