Pierce Leslie Bungalow

With its historical significance, Pierce Leslie Bungalow remains one of the most visited heritage centres in Ernakulam district, Kerala. The colonial bungalow was constructed in the nineteenth century, in 1862 and functioned as the administrative office of Pierce Leslie & Company, the most famous coffee traders of the century. The mansion was built in European style blending with the native architecture, it is a perfect mixture of Portuguese, Dutch and Kerala schools of architecture.

The bungalow complex is divided into two houses named “Old Harbour House” and “Koder House”. This multi-story building has wooden panels as the roof of the ground floor. There are arched doorways, sprawling rooms, cascading balconies, carved doors that show perfect craftsmanship and waterfront verandas that attract tourists to the colonial mansion.
