Perunthenaruvi Waterfalls

Amidst the wilderness of woods, the free-flowing streams set about its journey forming mesmerizing cascades into the rocky beds. Perunthenaruvi waterfalls located in Pathanamthitta flow within the dense forests of Sabarimala and create two majestic waterfalls on the shores of Kudamurutti and Vechoochira. The locality and the forest regions near the waterfalls are famous for its beehives and honey generation, thus the waterfalls obtained its name, Perunthenaruvi, “Perunthen” means “great honey” and “aruvi” means “river”. 

The astonishing view offered by the inglorious waterfalls attracts many tourists within and outside India to the terrain. Visitors can either choose to walk or trek their way into the waterfalls. With its falling down from a height of 100 feet, there forms a water bed in between the rocks that allure the visitors for a relaxing swim and bath. Water falling down the cascade goes further forward to merge with the holy river Pamba, which is very religious upon its connection with Sabarimala temple.
