This most ancient of all mosques in Kerala, Pazhayangadi mosque or Kondotty Mosque is at least 500 years old pilgrim centre built for the worship of Kerala Muslims. The mosque located 18 km east of Manjeri in Malappuram district is quite an architectural marvel. This splendid building was constructed in loving memory of Mohammad Shah, a true follower and leader of Islam popularly known in the region as Kondotty Thangal.
The stunning outlook and structure of the mosque is quite a direct example of the Mughal Style of architecture made of pure white pristine marbles. The huge white dome rising up like a beacon among the stunning green background is incomparably beautiful and attracts many to its vicinity.
