Panmana Ashram

Panmana Ashram located at a distance of 18 kilometres from the north of Kollam city is better known as the Mahasamadhi Peedom of Sree Chattampy Swamikal. The ashram is quite famous among tourists for the peace and tranquillity it offers. The ashram located among paddy fields and coconut palms depicts the simplicity and modesty of its ideologies and principles. 

Sree Chattampy Swamikal was a great scholar and mystic, who believed in a humble lifestyle and practised Ahimsa or non-violence, Satya or truthfulness, Asteya or non-stealing, Brahmacharya or celibacy etc. These ideologies and simple lifestyles have influenced thousands of people. Thus, Sri Kumbalathu Sanku Pillai, an ardent follower of Swamikal and a freedom fighter has established Panmana ashram to propagate the principles of this divine personality. 

Many tourists arrive at the ashram to achieve a spiritual revival. Many famous personalities have paid a visit to the ashram including Mahatma Gandhi who has stayed in the ashram for two days. At present Branhmacharins and Sannyasins live together in the ashram undergoing training in Indo-logical studies and researches. 

Another important feature is that Panmana ashram provides exclusive training in yoga for a month with a total number of 200 hours of intensive training. The course is challenging with different kinds of training programmes like meditations, asanas and pranayama classes, Ayurveda classes, singing bhajans, chanting etc. After the completion of the course, it is sure to transform the person’s perspectives and way of life and help them realise their true self and potential.
