Located at Omallur, 6 km away from Pathanamthitta town, Manjinikkara Dayara Church is a famous Christian pilgrim center in Kerala. Devotees come to church to see the mortal remains of Mar Ignatius Elias III, the Holy Patriarch of Anthiod. Mar Ignatius Elias reached Manjinikkara in 1931 and found the place to be extremely peaceful and serene. Thus, he decided to stay there till his heavenly abode in 1932.
The Holy patriarch was buried in Manjinikkara church and since then the church has become a pilgrim center flooded by devotees. The altar of the church is significant for the beautiful images of Jesus and the saint. The tomb of Mar Ignatius Elias is near the altar of the church. Regardless of caste and religion, all visitors participate in the Orma Perunnal, the memory festival of the saint. This annual festival is celebrated every year in the month of February.
