Mananchira Square

Mananchira Square is this inglorious park built around Mananchira Lake, the man-made pool constructed in the 14th century by Zamorin Mana Vikrama. Yet the square was only built recently, in 1994. Before transforming into a park it was part of the palace complex called Mananchira Maidanam, where many football matches were regularly held. Now the park is all up with the tourists’ attractions like a musical fountain, open-air theatre, artificial hill, streams, trees, plants, and sculptures.

Within the park complex, the Public library, town hall, and Commonwealth Trust Office were retained upon renovation. The architecturally excellent arch in the entrance guarded by Tipu Sultan’s cannons and the ancient buildings retained still give the old world charm to this vicarious park. The whole landscape is filled with lawns and grasses, providing a very ecological outlook to the park. The serene waters of the Mananchira Lake are sure to offer a soothing effect to the tourists in the park. Visit this mind-blowing square with a traditional charm, surrounding greenery ,and pristine water bodies for a peaceful hour in your busy day.
