Malampuzha Dam & Garden

Malampuzha dam with its vast canal systems is the largest water reservoir in Kerala. Standing 355 feet tall, the dam is built across Malampuzha river, which is a major tributary of the Bharathapuzha River, the second-longest river in Kerala. The dam was built for all irrigational needs of the people around the region. The dam offers exciting boating services to the visitors along the refreshing and crystal clear waters.

On front of Malampuzha dam, there lies the most sophisticated Malampuzha garden, with almost every patch of ground filled with grasses. It is the only rock-cut garden in South India made with broken pieces of bangles, tiles, plastic cans, and other waste materials. This garden with water foundations, flowering beds, rose gardens and waste management sculptures were the brainchild of Nek Chand, a renowned artist. Within the garden, there is a 30-foot-old Yakshi Statue, built by Kanayi Kunhiraman, which is one of the famous statues in Kerala.
