Kottakkal Arya Vaidyasala

Kottakkal Arya Vaidyasala, is one of the most important Ayurvedic centres established in 1902 by the physician Vaidyaratnam P.S Warrier. Kottakkal being a small town in Malappuram district has many local, national and international tourists, patients, Ayurvedic scholars and practitioners visiting this unique structure for Ayurveda treatments, one of the most ancient medicinal systems in the world originated from Indian soils. P.S Warrier started the Vaidyasala as a village hospital to popularise the long-forgotten medicinal system of treating with the help of medicinal plants and herbs obtained from mother nature. 

People found this reputed centre best for treating their diseases and ailments in the most natural way possible. After the death of the Vaidyan, the building was transformed into a Charitable trust according to his desires. This establishment has many sub-branches in all the major cities of the country with its headquarters in Malappuram. There is an Ayurvedic hospital and a Research Centre functioning in Kottakkal. At present Kottakkal Arya Vaidyasala is multifunctional as it is practically a laboratory, a research centre, a nursing home, a drug manufacturing unit, a museum that displays the perfect evolution of Ayurveda and its methods from ancient to the contemporary era and a herb garden which has almost all the medicinal plants grown to make different Kashayam, kuzhambu, gulika, choornam etc.
