Keezharkuthu falls, also known as the “rainbow falls”, is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the Idukki district at a distance of 25 kilometres from the town of Thodupuzha. It is such a mystical experience to see water cascading down from a height of 1500 meters down to the rocky bed forming a glorious rainbow in the sky. This waterfall has never once dried in extremely hot climates. It always falls with grandeur thus, it can be visited at any time of the year even though they are more heavy and misty during the monsoon season. Kaithappara hill forests surrounding the waterfalls are said to have medicinal herbs and floras grown within them. These medicinal herbs are regularly used by the tribal communities living nearby in case of any diseases. Wild pigs, porcupines, elephants etc are some of the animals found near Keezharkuthu waterfalls. The animals seek shelter under large trees and canopies. Enormous rock formations near the majestic waterfalls are loved by adventurous visitors for rock climbing, camp tracking, mountaineering, trekking etc. These cascading waterfalls also provide the best scenery for photo fanatics.
