Chembra Peak

Chembra Peak, the highest point of the Western Ghats and Wayanad hills stands at an altitude of 2100 m above sea level. The peak is situated in Meppadi town about 8 km south of Kalpetta in Wayanad district. A trek to the peak is an excellent journey, as the way is filled with plantations, lush greenery, waterfalls, etc. A three-hour trek from the plantations will reach you to the top of Chembra Peak. The plantations seem like horizontal planes, but slowly the landscape keeps rising under your feet while you get the magnificent views of the nearby towns like Kalpetta and Vaithiri along the valleys.

After about 3 km past your trek, you are wonderstruck at the beauty of a heart-shaped pond, locally known as “hrudayasarass”. This oasis among the grassy meadows reflects the clouds up above the clear blue sky on a bright sunny day. So imagine the reflections of the twinkling stars at night, it would be the most mesmerizing view indeed. After this great and astonishing break at the pond, which kind of lifted your mood, the trekking continues to the top of the peak. Upon reaching the destination you are bound to be captivated as the views are much more than you could ever imagine. All the trekking and the pain are totally worth the views up here. Enjoy a trip to this vicarious peak top with picaresque settings, on your weekends.
