Chavakkad, the fish town, is located at a distance of 5 km from Guruvayoor town. It is the only beach in Thrissur that offers the view of a river merging into the sea, locally known as “Azhimukam”. Many visitors come near the beach to witness this majestic confluence of the river into the glorious Arabian sea.
The beach with its rare natural beauty of coconut trees and palms lining the shoreline must be enjoyed in its fullest. One can see that one side of the beach is Ramachapadam, which is farmland where the Ayurvedic herb, Ramacham, grows abundantly. Visitors can have the opportunity to experience ayurvedic massages near the beach. Much of the restaurants near the shore have tasty and delicious seafood, made with fresh fishes from the sea. With the fish market and an amazing view of the convergence, Chavakkad beach is one of the most crowded beaches in Thrissur on every single day.
