In the charming shades of pink, there stands a legendary mosque Beemapalli Dargah Shareef at Beemapalli, the suburb in Thiruvananthapuram. The mosque is renowned for the tomb of Syedunnisa Beema Beevi, a saintly Muslim woman. Beevi and her son Syed Shuhada Maheen Abubacker are believed to have migrated from Arabia to preach Islam religion. It is said that Beevi and her son belonged to the family of Prophet Mohammad and had divine powers inherent in them.
Every year “urus chandanakudam” festival is held at Beemapally mosque which attracts thousands of pilgrims from across India and abroad. The celebrations continue for about ten days, during which faithful devotees offer prasad on the tomb in the form of flowers, silk cloths, and oil. The mosque building is unique with its pinkish shade and alluring architecture. The divine wells in Beemapally mosque possess magical water, capable of curing diseases. It was during Beevi’s stay at Thiruvalla, that she was approached by a court assistant to cure his abdominal disease. After the miraculous healing of his disease, the court assistant gladly accepted the Islam religion and offered land in Trivandrum to build a masjid.
The mosque is at a distance of 12 km from Thiruvananthapuram city. The Masjid consists of two magical wells, with hot and cold water, respectively. It is believed that even in the worst droughts, both these wells withstood to provide water for the needy. Visit Beemapally Masjid to attain serenity amidst religious peacefulness.
