Athirappilly WaterFalls

The most majestic twin waterfalls of Thrissur district, Athirappilly Water Falls, and Vazhachal waterfalls are unique in their very core. Athirappilly Water Falls being the largest waterfall in Kerala is the most famous tourist attraction of the district. It is often referred to as the “Niagara Waterfalls of India”. They are located in Sholayar forest ranges, cascading down from a height of 80 feet. During monsoon seasons, water flows in large quantities, subsequently increasing the pressure and power of the waterfalls. You may have to walk 100 meters down the waterfall to enjoy the vision in its essence. The cool spray of water on our gleaming faces offers a paradisiacal bliss of eternal beauty. 

Water is crashing down to join the Chalakudy river that further stretches its journey long forward to meet the glorious Arabian Sea. Walking further for about 5 km will reach you to the twin of Athirapally- which is Vazhachal Falls. This falls also welcomes you to its falling bed with a roaring yet melodious music of cascading waters. It is tightly embedded within the exotic wilderness and green covers. These bewitching waterfalls, way within the jungle foliage is a stunning view that ignites your senses and invigorates your souls. 

For the ardent bird lovers, these waterfalls are heaven, as they have a rare collection of birds flying over the Milky Way of waters. It is indeed the only place in the Western Ghats where four endangered species of hornbill are spotted. These waterfalls have always been a favourite backdrop for many movie and video settings. Bahubali, Raavan, Guru, Mani Ratnam’s Dil Se are among the few famous Indian Blockbusters shooted in Athirapally Vazhachal waterfalls.
