Anandashram is a spiritual centre located 15 km from Bekal in Kasaragod district. This ashram was established in the year 1931 by Swami Ramdas, who is known as “Papa Ramdas”. In the later years, a young widow Mother Krishnabai also came to live in the ashram which enraged many people. Some of the inhabitants had left the ashram because of the presence of a widow among them. But later on, people became aware of this ancient superstition and accepted her. Thus, she became the “Pujya Mataji” of the ashram.
It is an internationally renowned spiritual abode of bliss that is accessible to all people without any discrimination based on caste or religion. All the ones who wish to be in the midst of tranquil nature for meditation and peace of mind are welcome at this place. Swami Ramdas preached his ideas of universal love and service, which was not only preached by practically proved in their actions through social service activities in the local communities.
Nityanandashram is another popular ashram founded by Swami Nityananda comprising 45 caves crafted out of mountain slopes. Adjacent to the ashram one can spot a temple, with a captivating idol of Swami Nityananda wholly made of Panchaloha metal. This ashram also serves for a calm and serene stay among the woods for meditation. Visitors are allowed to enter these low rise buildings built for the comfortable stay of the inhabitants without material possessions and luxuries.
