Anamudi Peak widely known as the “Himalayas of Southern India ”, is the highest peak in India after the Himalayas mountain ranges. Anamudi Peak is said to be a one-hour drive from the Munnar tourist center. It resides within Eravikulam National Park at a height of 2695 meters above sea level and is highest in the Western Ghats. Up above standing with its grandeur, Anamudi Peak is the pride of Kerala. It has the largest population of Asian Elephants in the whole of Asia, along with endangered Gaurs, exotic Nilgiri Langurs, and lion-tailed Macaque.
Anamudi Peak can give the best of sights with evergreen forests, different plantations, and the beautiful rivers flowing below such as Vaigai, Thamirabharani, and Periyar River. The peak is quite renowned for the Neelakurinji flower that blooms once every twelve years. When it does, the place is filled with thousands of visitors at different times of the day. Since trekking on Anamudi Peak requires special care for the extreme height and wet grass slopes, authorities only allow trekking for 2 km on foot.
