Amritapuri Ashram

Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, the ancient Sanskrit phrase which means “The world is one family” is a harmonious description much suited for Amritapuri Ashram. This legendary ashram has a whole bunch of people living together, who belong to different cultures, speak different languages and follows different religions as well. The ashram is built on the birthplace of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, a world-renowned social reformer, famous for her humanitarian deeds.

Amritapuri ashram in Kollam is the headquarters of all Amma’s missionary works. It is the spiritual abode for Amma’s disciplines and devotees, accommodating around 3000 devotees from India and abroad. The devotees spend their living hours on meditation, singing bhajans (devotional songs) and providing social services (Seva). Amma usually arranges darshans many times a week to meet her loyal devotees.

During darshans, amma takes special care to attend each and every one of them by listening to their pleads and worries, giving advice, consoling them with novel directions in their lives etc. The ashram is located on a beautiful island in between the Arabian sea and sumptuous backwaters. A visit to the Ashram is a life-altering experience that draws you back to your inner self, allowing a chance for introspection away from the hustles of city life.
