Paramekkavu Bhagavathy temple is one among the largest temples dedicated to Goddess Durga. This temple in Paramekkavu, Thrissur is in very proximity to the Vadakkumnathan temple. The major deity of the temple is Devi Vaishnavay, the incarnation of Durga Devi, who is believed to have reached Paramekkavu along with Kuruppal (the head of the Nair family) from Thirumadhamkunnu, under his umbrella.
This Bhagavathy temple is among the two major participants in Thrissur Pooram. During the festival, Bhagavathy visits Lord Ayyappa in Vadakkumnathan Temple and travels back after Pooram.
