CSI Christ Church

Owing to its gothic architecture, majesty, and historical significance, CSI Christ Church is one of the ancient churches in Trivandrum. The church is about 150 years old, with its glory hiking along the years passing by. The church was built in 1859 by the early Christian settlers in Munnar. The gothic architecture is accompanied by glass windows that depict the biblical stories and saints, adding extra charm to the beauty of the church. Among the many glass paintings, the most famous among them is that of the “Good Shepherd”. 

The church stays amidst the lush green trees with a 100-year-old cemetery. The cemetery is the final resting place of many Europeans who lived in Kerala during the period of British rule. Their gravestones are built in European style and grandeur, some of them are even old as 200 years. 

The antique furnishing of the church the Altar, Lectern, the brass altar railings and pulpit are upheaving the glory of the church beyond imagination. If you are into ancient architecture and historical buildings, the CSI Christ Church is a must-visit spot. More than thousands of families come to the church to attend holy mass. On Sundays, there are masses in three different languages – Malayalam, English and Tamil. With the antique ambiance and refreshing greenery, the church spreads a divine aura and spirit in and around the church premises.
