Puliyarmala Jain Temple

Puliyarmala Jain Temple, also known by the name Anantnath Swami Temple, is an ancient Jain temple located in Kalpetta, Wayanad. This 13th-century pilgrim centre is dedicated to Lord Anantnath Swami, a Jain Tirthankar. It is one of the widely visited pilgrim centres in Wayanad for its historical relevance and ancient Jain Architecture. Many art lovers are fascinated by the crafted pillars, Dravidian style stupa with engravings in the pyramid shape, the large brass idol and the carved statue of Lord Mahaver in the front door.

It is such a delight to see this level of architectural excellence. The existence of this 13th-century temple is the symbol of Jainism that faded away from our lands and culture leaving behind relics and traces like this pilgrim centre. A visit to Puliyarmala Jain Temple would be a great chance to see Dravidian sculptures blended with the Jain heritage that existed in our lands long ago.
