Karapuzha Dam is one of the biggest earth dams in India, situated in the Wayanad district. The dam is constructed over the Karapuzha River, a tributary of the Kabani river. The construction works began in 1977 and were completed in 2004. The dam was built to meet all the irrigation requirements of the people in those regions. The dam also contributed tremendously to the power generation aspect as well. The dam residing among gorgeous hills, grassy meadows, and forests is such a spectacular vision for tourists.
The tourism department has initiated different boating and canoeing facilities through the virgin waters of Karapuzha reservoir.
