Kalpetta Town

Kalpetta Town standing at an altitude of 780m above sea level, is often referred to as the headquarters of the Wayanad district. It is called so for many vital reasons, as it is the commercial and natural hub of the district. Acres and acres of coffee, tea, and spices plantations take control over your senses with great aromas, high mountains touching the clear blue sky, milky streams falling down the cliffs, grassy

meadows spreading as a lawn etc. make Kalpetta the natural hub with stunning landscapes.

These spices grown in the mountains of Wayanad district are traded to other parts of the state, country, and abroad through the commercial trading wing of Kalpetta town. One can also say that Kalpetta is strong in religious beliefs and faiths. There are numerous temples, churches, and mosques within and around Kalpetta town and all believers live in harmony with each other participating and celebrating the festivals, Pooram or Palliperunnal, without any discrimination. About 500 Jain families are residing in the town with numerous Jain Pilgrim centres. For all the cultural, natural, and commercial significance Kalpetta is surely the headquarters of Wayanad district.
