The bird watcher’s paradise, Agasthyakoodam, the second highest peak in Kerala, is situated at an altitude of 1890m above sea level. The peak point is located within the premises of Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary. The magnificent mountain can only be conquered by foot. Two possible routes for trekking are from Kottoor, near Neyyar Dam, and from Bonacaud. The mountain peak is famous for its bewitching wildlife assets.

This herbal air inhaled by the hiker can miraculously heal respiratory diseases. The peak gained its name from a mysterious sage, Agasthya, who is believed to have lived in here. There is a statue of the sage on top of the peak upon which devotees come to offer their prayers. Thus, it can be said that the glorious and majestic peak is a Hindu pilgrimage with pujas and offerings from the devotees.
