Dharmadam Beach

Dharmadam beach is the glorious golden shores spreading across the coastline of the Dharmadam islands. These islands situated near Thalassery in the Kannur district is enclosed by three rivers on each side and the Arabian Sea on the fourth. Anjarakandy and Thalassery rivers form the backwaters of Kannur near the islands. The most peculiarity of the beach is that it has a low tide and people can literally walk their way to the island through the knee- reaching waters. It is advisable that you only attempt to cross the sea with proper guidance as there are chances of risks during high tides.

The shore is lined with coconut palms and emerald bushes, offering the best of the views. The island was believed to be named by the Buddhists, who visited the place and saw that it is so full of medicinal herbs. Dharmadam could be translated as “the land of ethics”. Two hectares of land full of trees, bushes, herbs and migratory birds, is a perfect place to enjoy your weekend in the caressing arms of mother nature.
